Aurora Wins MPL PH Season 18, Joins Falcons at M8
Category: Esports News
Quick answer: Aurora Gaming PH beat Team Falcons 4–2 on 25 October 2026 to win MPL PH Season 18. Both teams qualified for M8 in Istanbul, where the Main Stage begins in January 2027.
Aurora Gaming PH won its first MPL Philippines championship, beating Team Falcons 4–2 in the Season 18 Grand Final on 25 October. Both finalists will represent the Philippines at the M8 World Championship in Istanbul in January 2027.
MOONTON Games confirmed the title and qualification outcome in its 28 October season recap. The final took place at PhilSports Arena in Pasig, with the organizer reporting a sold-out crowd of more than 6,000.
Aurora playoff results
Aurora's run required a recovery after a five-game loss to Falcons. The official MPL PH schedule records the complete route:
| Date | Opponent | Aurora result |
|---|---|---|
| 21 October | Smart Omega | Won 3–2 |
| 22 October | Team Liquid PH | Won 3–1 |
| 23 October | Team Falcons | Lost 2–3 |
| 24 October | Team Liquid PH | Won 4–3 |
| 25 October | Team Falcons | Won 4–2 |
The seven-game series against Liquid kept Aurora in the tournament and set up a rematch with Falcons. Aurora then reversed the earlier result to take the championship.
For readers following from the regular season, the distinction is important: the final champion emerged through the playoff bracket, including a defeat and a lower-bracket recovery. Aurora finished the five-day run with four series wins and one loss.
First domestic crown and an M8 title defence
The win ended Team Liquid PH's attempt to claim four consecutive MPL Philippines titles. Aurora's Jan "Domeng" Del Mundo received the Grand Finals MVP award.
Aurora also enters the next international chapter as the reigning M Series champion. The team won M7 in January 2026, extending the Philippines' sequence to six consecutive M Series titles, according to MOONTON.
The two Philippine representatives now have distinct stakes: Aurora will try to retain its world championship, while Falcons can build on a domestic runner-up finish. Qualification confirms their places; it does not yet establish their opening opponents or a predicted finish.
Team Spirit adds another confirmed M8 contender
The international field continued to develop this week. In a 1 November announcement, MOONTON confirmed that Team Spirit beat Aurevia Team 4–0 in the MCC Season 8 final and secured an M8 Main Stage place.
Spirit is pursuing the organizer's Golden Road milestone after its MSC triumph earlier in the year. An M8 title would complete the sweep of major regional and international MLBB titles within that competitive year.
That makes the Philippine qualification story part of a wider contest: the defending M Series champion and the MSC champion are both confirmed for Istanbul. Their eventual meeting remains a possibility, rather than an announced fixture.
M8 dates for Philippine and SEA fans
The official M8 ticket hub lists the following stage windows:
- Wild Card in Bangkok: 17–20 December 2026.
- Swiss Stage: 3–10 January 2027.
- Knockout Stage: 14–19 January 2027.
- Grand Final: 23 January 2027.
For Aurora and Falcons fans, the January Main Stage is the relevant competition window. The December Wild Card is a separate qualification stage for other teams.
Check the official hub's timezone setting when reading individual match listings. It warns that times are estimates and may change as earlier series finish. Singapore and the Philippines share UTC+8, so a correctly converted Philippine match time can be used directly by Singapore viewers.
FinalRound's M8 format and dates guide explains the broader tournament structure. The next useful update will be the confirmed draw and team-specific schedule, once the organizer publishes them.
